Intel ipw wireless networking does not work out of the box

Description

This is a chipset with a driver in the kernel, but additional firmware is required. Some kernel config options may also need changing before we can support these wireless devices:

I just installed 64Studio 2.0 i686. As I was trying to install my ipw3945 wifi card, I found this thread opened last August : http://www.mail-archive.com/64studio-devel@64studio.com/msg01420.html It seems the problem was solved for this person but it didn't work for me.

I dunno why but I fixed the problem by installing a different version of ipw3945-source, this one : http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/pool/contrib/i/ipw3945/ipw3945-source_1.2.2-1_all.deb (then m-a a-i ipw3945-source && aptitude install ipw3945d firmware-ipw3945 && modprobe ipw3945)
