Could Bristol be considered for some future release of 64studio?
Bristol homepage is here: http://bristol.sourceforge.net/
It is still being actively developed, but is good enough to have been included in the standard build for studio-to-go.
The Debian package is 0.9.1-13 and is very old (may be Alsa only). I have tried it on AMD64, and as I recall it is not very stable / may not actually run (Can't remember which).
Bristol has been Jack-ified in later versions, which makes it much more useable.
Most of the sourceforge versions are i386 only, but the good news is that I have successfully compiled and run version 0.9.6-212 on AMD64 against 64studio 1.3 series development libraries. In limited testing, I have found it reasonably stable once started.
The main things I encountered with -212 were:
a) compile script needed a little tweaking to pre-create /bin and /lib directories and I remember needing to hack it to get it to compile with Jack support
b) The install element of the compile script didn't seem to set things up properly in the /usr... area, so I currently run from the home directory to avoid those problems
c) the hammond emulation will crash when switching from/to the secondary control panel when the screen is maximised
d) resizing the screen is painfully slow, but OK once done
e) Bristol may crash/not respond if called in alsa mode with jack running, or in jack mode with jack not running. For me, Bristol runs best for me if explicity started with "-audio jack" option.
f) some of the instruments are a bit quiet.
g) Hammond sound is a bit thin and tinny when compared to Beatrix
h) The ARP2600 is great fun!
