.mid files do not open with rosegarden

Description

AMD64 1.4.1

I am browsing some midi files, and wish to open one them with rosegarden.

The system does not launch rosegarden

Expected behaviour is for rosegarden to open the midi file.

Test as follows:
----------------
Within Nautilus,
selecting a midi file (.mid)
rightclick to select the opening application
select rosegarden
absolutely nothing happens

The following tests work OK and demonstrate that rosegarden will accept a passed filename:

$rosegarden blah.mid
running firefox, browsing the directory, and selecting rosegarden as the opening application

Nautilus appears to be unable to launch rosegarden, irrespective of filetype.

Nautilus will happily pass the midi filename to other applications and launch them normally (e.g. qsynth, gedit....), so the problem is not related to the .mid filetype

Limited testing would suggest that This behaviour seems to be particular to Nautilus+Rosegarden combination.

Free,

This problem has returned. I cannot be certain when it broke.

I'm currently running 2.0pre1.

Can anyone else please re-test this on the current pre1?

Perhaps the problem is local to my system?

best wishes Steve

Free, additional info for you:

I downloaded a random midi from the Internet - it is a valid file because file/open within Rosegarden works just fine.

Double clicking the .mid file from the desktop actually pops up an unidentified window with an error message - something about file type.

Actually physically re-selecting Rosegarden as the opening application seems to work, and now everything is OK when double-clicking any midi.

The odd thing is that dragging and dropping the .mid file into an open Rosegarden gives a really strange error: "Can't add dropped file. Bad sound file /home/tux/Desktop/Ecuador.mid: Failed to convert or resample audio file on import"

I'm going to reboot now and see what happens with the double-clicking thing.

OK. So after reboot the .mid files now open Rosegarden when double clicked.

Conclusion? The airgin 64studio installation does not associate Midi files correctly. Selecting any .mid file, right clicking and selecting "open with...rosegarden" seems to make the system operate correctly. This only has to be done one-time.

The wierd problem with drag and drop still exists - this looks like some sort of rosegarden issue and is probably unrelated to this ticket.

Correction, The virgin 64studio installation does not associate Midi files correctly.
