Useful extra packages

Make a list of useful extra packages which we want to be installed by default along with the standard Debian base system.

A first draft of the list is available here:

We have to check it and add/remove all the relevant packages.

Can we use nautilus with fluxbox without it taking over the desktop?

Should we deprecate every interface we don't want early on, eg alsa-oss?

I think the description of this ticket is misleading :/

The list should be only include useful packages that one would expect or like to be installed by default in any (e.g. vim, xchat, ssh) Linux system or desktop. All such packages shall be installed by default without prompting questions.

For the 64Studio specific packages (e.g. ardour, qsynth, xine) I'd rather make distinct lists of homogeneous applications. For example one list called "recording", including ardour, timemachine etc.

These "components" are not installed without prompting but can be selected with tasksel at installation time or later on.

For the first milestone milestone:Minimal system I'd concentrate on a very simple installable system with graphical support and include the 64Studio specific packages later on.
